He explored the boundaries that were put on colored people of his time as well as the boundaries of the human mind. Through his capabilities of mind, he proved to Thomas Jefferson, one of our founding fathers, that the African American mind was the equivalent of that of any "white" man.   Banneker managed to express his intelligence through is accomplishments. When he was a young boy, he was secluded on a farm with his mother and father and had limitations of travel put onto him. He overcame this by traveling to local plantations. The Ellitcotts introduced Banneker to astronomy and encouraged him to make an almanac; which he later used to prove the intellectual mind power of the African Americans.
